David Stalter aka The Crown

From dancing alone in his room to be the US street-dance champion. David “The Crown” Stalter won the US competition “Red Bull Dance Your Style”, and represented the US in the World Final in Johannesburg, South Africa, in December 2022. He decided to get out of the room and take movement and personal expression much further. No one to impress and nothing to prove, but he reached the world to get down on his knees. He brings the crowds to their feet in standing and loud ovations. And he has much more to offer.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Liberian-Korean, Stalter is self-taught in a variety of street dance styles, including hip hop, animation, breaking, popping and locking. Hard work and a unique set of skills has led him to opportunities with a variety of artists including G-Eazy, Lil Jon and Skee-Lo. His creative talents also don’t stop at dance; he also acts, writes poetry, models and plays the ukulele.

The Crown has participated in several Dance-Battles around the US and also in Europe. He emphasises that there, “it’s not about who’s more technical, it’s about having fun and being creative with your musicality. We can celebrate dance and battle at the same time—it can be loving.”

His purpose with dance is “to spread as much light as I can, and to keep moving with love. My biggest thing is to inspire as many people as possible, especially kids. I want to inspire the youth. If my art can make their depression or whatever go from like 99 percent to 98 percent that’s all that matters.”
